Types of Certifications

Level 1 - RFID Professional Institute Associate Certificate (RPIAC)

The RFID Professional Institute is providing certification credentials addressing all of the commonly used RFID technologies, for End-Users and Solution Providers responsible for implementation of RFID systems. The first level of certification covers the fundamentals of RFID - click here to see the blueprint for this exam .

This certification credential provides comprehensive coverage of the fundamental information needed to understand the characteristics, proper usage, and implementation considerations for the primary types of RFID in use.

We currently envision three additional levels of certification.

The RICP is intended for those who have several years experience in RFID. The individuals who pass the RICP examination are prepared to demonstrate that they have a comprehensive understanding of all types of RFID technologies and can evaluate technology options, identify potential problems and serve on an RFID cross-functional team effectively. This certification is appropriate for those actively involved with designing or deploying RFID systems.

Potential Candidates: IT dedicated to ongoing RFID projects, those with several years experience working on RFID projects, those joining RFID solution providers in technical position.

Level 2 - RFID Professional Institute Certified Professional (RPICP)

RFID Professional Institute Introduction

Level 3- RFID Professional Institute Certified Specialist

Level 3 is where the certification changes from being RFID generic to focus in on a specialist areas of the RFID industry. Each of these specialist areas is described in the following sections.

Specialist- Passive UHF (RPICS – Passive UHF)

The RFID Professional Certified Specialist – Passive UHF credential is designed for those who have mastered the complexities of passive UHF RFID deployments. The individuals who pass the RPICS – Passive UHF examination are prepared to demonstrate that they have achieved a level of expertise needed to deploy complex passive UHF RFID systems.

Potential Candidates: Those who have passed the first two levels of certification and want to demonstrate the ability to design and deploy passive UHF RFID systems.

Call for Subject Matter Experts (SME's)

Specialist – Passive LF and HF (RPICS – Passive LF and HF)

The RFID Certified Specialist – Passive LF and HF credential is designed for those who have mastered the complexities of passive near-field RFID systems and deployments. The individuals who pass the RPICS – Passive LF and HF examination are prepared to demonstrate that they have achieved a level of expertise needed to deploy complex passive near-field RFID systems.

Potential Candidates: Those who have passed the first two levels of certification and want to demonstrate the ability to design and deploy passive LF and HF RFID systems.

Potential Candidates: Those who have passed the first two levels of certification and want to demonstrate the ability to design and deploy passive UHF RFID systems.

Specialist – Active RFID (RPICS – Active)

The RFID Certified Technician – Active RFID credential is designed for those who have mastered the complexities of active RFID systems and deployments. The individuals who pass the RPICS – Active examination are prepared to demonstrate that they have achievedd a level of expertise needed to deploy complex active RFID systems.

Potential Candidates: Those who have passed the first two levels of certification and want to demonstrate the ability to design and deploy active RFID systems.

Specialist – Software Developer RFID (RPICSD)

The RFID Certified Software Developer credential is intended for entry-level and mid-career software development professionals that want to confirm their proficiency in developing RFID software applications and integrating RFID systems with existing software applications.

Potential Candidates: Those who have passed the first two levels of certification and want to demonstrate the ability to design and develop RFID software applications active.

Specialist – RFID Project Management Professional (RPICPM)

The RFID Project Management Professional credential is intended for RFID professionals that want to confirm their proficiency in managing successful RFID deployments on a large scale.

Potential Candidates: Those who have passed the first two levels of certification and want to demonstrate the ability to manage large-scale RFID deployment programs.

Level 4 - RFID Professional Institute Certified RFID Expert (RPICE)

In addition, the RFID institute will award a special “RFID Institute Certified RFID Expert” credential to those who hold all current RFID Certified Specialist credentials. This special designation indicates that the holder has demonstrated the ability to deploy the major types of RFID systems and that they have achievedd the highest level of expertise in the RFID industry.
